MIDNIGHT MOD HISTORY

For 33 1/3 years Midnight Mod has been a guiding force in the history of music in Woodstock, NY. The legendary WOODSTOCK - MOODS & MOMENTS album was recorded here in the Midnight Mod living room in 1975. Many other Woodstock compilation albums have been recorded here as well as artists as diverse as THE BAND, NRBQ, John Sebastian, John Hall, Jules Shear, Jean Redpath, The FUGS, Graham Parker, Dave Matthews and so many more.

Eclecticism is the key to our recording artists and styles. We supply the artist with a quiet, laid back environment for recording your record or demo-totally secluded in the woods. Relax in our blue room, our outdoor deck, shoot a game of pool or play ping pong.

Best of all, we have access to the best musicians in the Woodstock area - as well as the best engineers and producers.

Thought on analog recording:

Take a listen to any of the albums recorded in the 50s-There is something in common with these artists: Elvis Presley, all the SUN recordings, all of the great Jazz albums on BLUE NOTE that Rudy Van Gelder recorded, Broadway Musicals, the Sinatra Capitol albums and almost all early Rock & Roll. That common ground is they were ALL recorded LIVE to 2 track analog tape. No overdubbing- mixed as it was going down- no plug-ins- no cutting & splicing-no pitch correction-just recording the sessions as it happened.

If you’re a jazz combo, folk artist, singer/songwriter that is looking for that great warm analog sound, we can do that for you. You’ll be amazed at how much warmer it sounds then if recorded on hard drive.

You have the option for also being recorded on ADAT as well as on hard drive.
For hard drive recording we use LOGIC PRO 7 which is compatible with all hard drive programs-Pro Tools, etc. We record onto LOGIC via MOTU at 24 bit.

First time in a studio? We can produce your record from scratch!
